Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore could be set for surprise West Brom return

Darren Moore could be primed for a return to West Bromwich Albion should Carlos Corberan leave for Leeds United.

The 48-year old Moore has revived his managerial career after his surprise sacking by Albion in March 2019 when they were sat in fourth place in the Championship.

After a stint at Doncaster Rovers, where he left them in the League One play-off positions, Moore took on the challenge of breathing fresh life into Sheffield Wednesday. 

His first full season ended with 85 points but defeat to Sunderland in the play-offs. However, this campaign, Wednesday have been one of the stand out teams across all divisions.

Victory against League One pacesetters Plymouth Argyle on Saturday saw them take over at the top of the table.

Leeds have sacked manager Jesse Marsch less than a year after he took over at Elland Road

The 1-0 win was their 17th clean sheet of the season and extended their unbeaten run to 22 games. Wednesday also have the chance to progress to the Fifth Round of the FA Cup tomorrow night should they beat Fleetwood Town in their fourth round replay.

The run has drawn plenty of attention towards Moore and his management methods.

Albion want to keep hold of Corberan and are willing to offer a new contract but recognise that he is under serious consideration at Leeds United to replace Jesse Marsch who was sacked on Monday.

With that in mind they will naturally assess potential options and Moore, who also made over 100 appearances for Albion as a player, will be one of the names at the forefront of their thinking.
