Sooryavanshi Box Office Collection Day 5: Akshay Kumar’s Film Is Rs 100 Crore Not Out

Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif’s Sooryavanshi, directed by Rohit Shetty, is unstoppable and has crossed Rs 100 crore mark in just four days after opening in theatres post Diwali. The film is Rohit Shetty’s ninth movie to cross Rs 100 crore mark, reported trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Sooryavanshi earned Rs 11.22 crore on Tuesday, bringing the overall collections to Rs 102.81 crore. By the end of its first week, it might score as much as Rs 120 crore, stated Taran Adarsh. Sharing the film’s box office performance, he wrote: “#Sooryavanshi is Hundred points symbol NOT OUT… Continues to attract substantial footfalls even on weekdays, especially in #Maharashtra and #Gujarat… Eyes Rs 120 crore [+/-] total in *Week 1*… Fri 26.29 crore, Sat 23.85 crore, Sun 26.94 crore, Mon 14.51 crore, Tue 11.22 crore. Total: Rs 102.81 crore. #India business.”

In a separate tweet, Taran Adarsh wrote: “Rohit Shetty: the hit machine… #Sooryavanshi is #RohitShetty’s NINTH film to cross Rs 100 crore mark… Rohit holds the record for maximum films in Rs 100 crore Club… Indeed, Rohit is making the audience laugh in theatres and his distributors laugh all the way to the bank!”

Sooryavanshi also stars Ranveer Singh as Simmba and Ajay Devgn as Singham – lead characters from other films of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe – in cameo roles.

In his review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave Sooryavanshi two and a half stars and wrote: “For Akshay Kumar, from Bell Bottom to Sooryavanshi, this performance is no more than a hop and a skip from one set to another. His gait, as always, is a veritable stunt in itself: a cross between a model in the middle of a catwalk and a superhero about to take flight. It is aimed at his fans. If it works for them, who are we to carp? Katrina Kaif pulls off a Tip tip barsa paani rejig with aplomb. But in a film overrun by three larger-than-life cops displaying their wares, a doctor is left with little to do other than negotiate the fallout of a derailed marriage.”
