Woman Claims Dead Rat Dropped On Her Food Court Table, IKEA India Issues Apology

A woman visiting IKEA store in Bengaluru seemingly had the most horrific experience at the food court of the popular furniture retailer. The lady alleged that a dead mouse fell on her table, just when she was about to have her meal in the food court. In a tweet, Sharanya Shetty posted pictures of a dead rodent lying on her table, next to her meal consisting of a chocolate pastry, a baked puff pastry and a beverage can. Tagging the Swedish furniture giant, the user wrote, “Wtf.. guess what fell on our food table at IKEA… I can’t even. We were eating and this rat just dropped dead… Most bizarre moment ever!”

The tweet, which was shared on July 16, has caught the attention of not just the internet users but also IKEA India. Responding to Sharanya’s tweet, IKEA issued an apology for the “unpleasant incident.” Stating that they were currently “investigating the situation”, the company assured to “take all the precautionary efforts.”

“Hej! We apologize for the unpleasant incident at IKEA Nagasandra. We’re currently investigating the situation & ensuring to take all precautionary efforts. Food safety and hygiene is our top priority, and we want our customers to always have the best shopping experience at IKEA,” read the furniture retailer’s reply.
