A fast-food customer has been left in shock after she took one bite of her burger only to find the rotten remains of a human body part.
A fast-food customer was left horrified after she bit into a hamburger and chewed on the grim remains of a rotting human finger.
Estefany Benitez, from Bolivia, made the discovery at the Hot Burger store in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, last Sunday.
She explained in a Facebook post that she chewed on the severed finger while taking her first bite of the burger.
It was accompanied by images of the rotting finger in question, along with videos of her waiting to speak to a company representative – who later pleaded with her for forgiveness.
In the footage, the staffer can be heard saying: “Please tell me what you want and we will give it to you.”
They also claimed that the burgers arrived at the store pre-prepared and that “nothing like this has ever happened to us before”.
In another video posted online, which has now been viewed more than 60,000 times, Benitez added: “Here we are at the magnificent Hot Burger where a finger ended up in my burger. I’ll post a photo of the finger right away.”
In the photo, the top of a rotting digit is seen on the side of the woman’s plate after she had allegedly taken a bite of the burger.
She said a store representative offered to close the restaurant while she was still there, but then “carried on serving customers like nothing had happened”.
After she shared her story online, a company spokesperson called the matter an “unfortunate incident” and explained that a worker had lost part of his index finger while preparing the meat.
This was later confirmed by Edson Claure, director of the National Police’s Special Crime Fighting Force.
The shocking course of events prompted the Vice Minister for the Defence of User and Consumer Rights to temporarily close the branch and impose a fine on the company.
It is not yet known whether Benitez will take legal action.
