Minnesota Wild forward Marcus Foligno blasted the referees after he was charged with two controversial penalties, leading to a pair of power-play goals for the Dallas Stars on Sunday.
”It’s a joke. It doesn’t make any sense. I go to hit a guy who touches the puck. It’s not interference. I go, I get high-sticked in the face. It’s not a tripping call when you hit a guy clean on. It’s (expletive),” Foligno said after the Stars’ 3-2 win in Game 4, tying the first-round series at 2-2.
When asked if he got an explanation, Foligno said: “No, no, arrogant.”
The first call — in a game reffed by Garrett Rank and Kevin Pollock — was for interference against Jani Hakanpaa in the second period, leading to Tyler Seguin‘s game-opening goal.

Foligno hit Hakanpaa into the boards behind the Dallas net a split-second after he appeared to move the puck.
The second penalty came late in the third period with Dallas up 2-1.
Foligno was called for tripping on Mason Marchment in front of the Dallas bench after he delivered a high hit on the Stars winger, who was trying to jump out of the way, just after he moved the puck.

Foligno crashed hard into the wall after the check.
Again, Seguin scored on the power play to give the Stars a 3-1 lead.
Wild coach Dean Evason also didn’t sound thrilled with the calls.
“Listen, everyone in the hockey world watched that game. We all know what happened. I’m not going to comment on them,” Evason said. “We have our opinions, but what’s the point? I hope you can all write about it and talk about it, but there’s no point in whining about it now. They’re gone.”
Rank and Pollock also worked Game 3 of the Edmonton Oilers-Los Angeles Kings game, where they were criticized for several calls.
