“Correct decision made. They (England) just didn’t like it. For that ball to be considered dead after the over or even after the delivery, both sides need to disregard it is in play. Clearly, the fielding side hadn’t,” Taufel told ABC Sydney Mornings.
Simon Taufel has officiated as an on-field umpire in 74 Tests and as TV umpire in 13 Test. He has been awarded ICC’s Umpire of the Year on many occasions.

Meanwhile, England senior batter Joe Root has appealed for calm in the wake of Jonny Bairstow’s controversial dismissal but had a warning for the Australian team.
“Jonny thrives off things like this,” Root said. “I’m sure he will want to entertain the local crowd. I think it is set up nicely for him, but you have still got to go and do it. “I don’t think he took it great. I don’t think anyone would they? “He felt a bit hard done by. I don’t think anyone will be leaving their crease (this week).”
