When ‘Barbie’ Promotions Got A Barfi Twist: Zomato’s Tweet Is Too Funny To Miss

The world of Hollywood films is in the midst of plenty of excitement as two big releases are set to happen soon. One is the Christopher Nolan directorial ‘Oppenheimer’ and the other is Greta Gerwig’s film ‘Barbie’. Since both films are releasing on the same day and are poles apart in terms of content, on July 21, the internet has been filled with memes and jokes about them. Film enthusiasts are debating about which film they will choose to watch on the release date. And now, food aggregator application Zomato has given the film jokes a foodie twist! Take a look:

Amidst all the chatter around the film ‘Barbie’, Zomato chose to give this theme a foodie spin. As you may know, the film is based on the life of the popular fictional character and toy figurine Barbie. Played by Margot Robbie, it captures her journey of interacting with humans and how she navigates the real world. Right from the outfits to the sets, everything in this film is toned in bright pink. So, when team Zomato spotted a pink-coloured barfi in an Indian sweet shop, they couldn’t help but post it on Twitter.
Aptly named ‘Barbie Barfi’, it was basically a pink version of chamcham which is a popular chhena-based sweet. “These barbie promotions are getting out of hand now,” wrote the food aggregator app on Twitter. Their post has received over 17k views and hundreds of comments and likes. Take a look at some of the reactions:

This is not the only story related to Zomato which has gone viral. Recently, a Twitter user complained about his order of paneer biryani from the food delivery application. Rather than what he was anticipating, he got a box of chicken biryani instead. Zomato had responded to his complaint too. Click here to read more about this story.
