Last week … Four winners. Verry Elleegant ($1.75) – Nick Quinn; Annavisto ($2.25) – Brad Waters, Chris Vernuccio, Glenn McFarlane and Jett Hatton; The Move ($1.85) – Trenton Akers; Samurai ($6) – Trenton Akers (value).

ROSEHILL

RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph) Form: 13922

ENTRIVIERE (Race 7, No.2 — $2.30)

Entriviere was outstanding when resuming in the Sheraco Stakes, coming from midfield early, going wide on the turn and finishing powerfully to win with authority. She was coming off a slight setback in training yet still defeated many of her Golden Pendant rivals with consummate ease. This classy New Zealand mare is yet to finish out of the top two in eight starts, winning six. She was beaten at her only previous attempt at 1400m but her racing pattern suggests this trip will be ideal. Hard to beat again.

Value bet: WITHOUT SHAME (Race 2, No.11 — $8.50)

SHAYNE O’CASS (Daily Telegraph) Form: x16x2

PROFONDO (Race 9, No.6 — $4.40)

A sale-topping ($1.9 million) son of Deep Impact out of Widden Stakes winner Honesty Prevails. Won against the bias on debut at the midweeks. Wants this trip now and then onto the Spring Champion Stakes.

Value bet: KERMATIN (Race 2, No.15 — $7.50)

CLINTON PAYNE (Racenet) Form: 44x7s

HOME AFFAIRS (Race 5, No.2 — $3.70)

No horse has been trialling better leading into the spring. This looks a winnable target first-up.

Value bet: ALEGRON (Race 9, No.4 — $6.50)

MITCH COHEN (Racenet) Form: 2x1x1

FRENCH EMPEROR (Race 9, No.9 — $8.50)

French Emperor comes out of the same maiden as $1.9 million colt Profondo, finishing third in his debut before heading to Goulburn to break his maiden in a mile event at his next start. He was green as grass in that win but trainer David Payne has whacked on the blinkers and that should sharpen him up nicely. The step up to 1800m should suit and with a good draw, I expect he will be fighting out the finish.

Value bet: SWORD OF STATE (Race 5, No.1 — $10)

SANDOWN

BRAD WATERS (Racenet) Form: 41s11

ELEPHANT (Race 5, No.2 — $2.60)

Elephant gave a great sight when narrowly beaten in the Group 2 Feehan Stakes at The Valley. He’s suited back in what looks to be an easier race and should go close again.

Value bet: BALLET MASTER (Race 9, No.6 — $26)

GILBERT GARDINER (Herald Sun) Form: 11325

CHERRY TORTONI (Race 5, No.6 — $3.40)

A shocking barrier away from being a Group 1 winner second-up last time. Primed to strike.

Value bet: SO SI BON (Race 8, No.1 — $10)

CHRIS VERNUCCIO (Racing News Editor) Form: 11221

ELEPHANT (Race 5, No.2 — $2.50)

Went close to winning the Group 2 Feehan Stakes, and there’s been a few winners to come out of that race. Dropping back to 1500m shouldn’t be a problem and he maps to sit outside the leader.

Value bet: THE INFERNO (The Valley, Race 7, No.3 — $5)

GLENN McFARLANE (Herald Sun) Form: 11121

ZOUZARELLA (Race 4, No.2 — $2.15)

Thousand Guineas favourite who can frank her credentials here as well as keep her unbeaten record intact.

Value bet: CHAILLOT (Race 8, No.6 — $3.00)

SIMON MOY (NewsRacing) Form: 11820

ZOUZARELLA (Race 4, No.2 — $2.15)

Unbeaten filly who was superb at the Valley and should relish conditions and extra distance.

CHERRY TORTONI (Race 5, No.6 — $3.40)

JETT HATTON (Racenet) Form: 49331

ELEPHANT (Race 5, No.2 — $2.50)

It takes a good horse to do what Elephant did at just his sixth start, losing a Group 2 weight-for-age contest in a photo. The Kiwi hit the front with 150m to go but just found the pinch late as Superstorm railed through, so the slight step back in trip should suit as will the drop in grade. Looks the standout bet on Saturday.

Value bet: SWAT’S THAT (The Valley Race 7, No.6 — $18)

NICK QUINN (TAB) Form: 11131

ZOUZARELLA (Race 4, No.2 — $2.15)

Rising star filly who defied a betting drift to win with dominance last start.

Steps up to 1400 metres which looks ideal and looks well placed to make it a perfect three from three.

Value bet: PORTLAND SKY (The Valley Race 7, No.4 — $11)

TOOWOOMBA

TRENTON AKERS (Courier Mail) Form: 14311

SOXAGON (Race 8, No.1 — $5.00)

Local horses have an imposing record in this race and Soxagon has been set for his hometown feature for some time now. Was given a good pipe opener first up and has drawn barrier one here.

Value bet: RED WAVE (Race 5, No.3 — $4.00)

NATHAN EXELBY (Sky Racing) Form: 151×4

FORTIFIED (Race 1, No.2 — $1.90)

Stable won this race last year with Kimpembe and this guy is a whole lot classier than him. Finished strongly to win over a mile second up in a better race than this and out to 1850m is ideal now. This is a very thin race and he should have too much class for them.

Value bet: DON’T STOP (Race 9, No.16 — $8.50)
