Colorado Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri was the hero of Game 4 when he scored one of the most unusual goals the Stanley Cup Final has ever seen.

Just call Nazem Kadri “The Magician” from now on. Because he made the pick disappear on the way to winning Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.

The Avalanche and Lightning went to overtime on Wednesday night locked at 2-2 when Kadri, who was making his series debut after recovering from thumb surgery, found the net to end the game.

However, no one, not even Kadri himself, realized it was even a goal until several seconds had passed. Why? Because the puck slipped into the top netting of the goal and rested on top of the crossbar.

In aftermath of the winning shot, Kadri and his teammates looked for the rebound. Lightning goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevskiy tried in vain to cover the nonexistent puck. It wasn’t until the officials noticed the puck where it sat suspended that the Avs realized they should be celebrating their victory.

It was a huge moment for Kadri, who hadn’t been able to help his team since being injured in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals against the Oilers. He made it back healthy just in time to put Colorado within one victory of winning the Stanley Cup.

This was the second massive overtime goal of the series for the Avalanche, who also took Game 1 in sudden death.

Game 5 will follow on Friday back in Colorado, giving the Avs the chance to win the Cup on their home ice.
