WATCH: Halle Bailey drops ethereal debut solo single ‘Angel’

JOHANNESBURG – After a successful live adaptation of The Little Mermaid, Halle Bailey – who goes by Halle – returned to the signing scene with her first solo single.

Along with her sister Chloe Bailey, Halle previously released music as an R&B duo called Chloe and Halle. The younger Bailey sister demonstrated her versatility as an artist by releasing a soulful ballad that shows her different styles as an artist.

Prior to the official release, the 23-year-old released a teaser video of a compilation of home videos from her childhood, and some from behind-the-scenes footage of The Little Mermaid.

With the lyrics: “Black girl here, Black girl with the Black girl hair. Took a little sun kiss just to look like this/God-sent, you’re an angel,” the song ‘Angel’ reflects her growing in the spotlight, and the painful opinions she had to endure throughout her career.

“this song for me was my kind of affirmation that i’d tell myself to keep myself beng able to keep going bc i was thrown into this world of so many different opinions & what people thought of me and was i good for this role”
