Vivek Oberoi concurs with Priyanka Chopra’s harsh revelations about Bollywood; hails her for getting out of the rut and finding a new space – Times of India

Following Priyanka Chopra’s revelations about Bollywood, Vivek Oberoi recently recalled his infamous press conference that he did 20 years ago.
Talking about the same, Vivek told a news portal that he is glad that he emerged from that. According to him, he came up through the trial by fire and survived it. However, he also added that not everybody is going to be that lucky.

Recalling his journey since the press conference 20 years ago, Vivek said that he went through a lot of stuff that was unnecessary. A lot of lobbying, a lot of repressive stories – kind of what Priyanka has been alluding to also. According to him, that has been a hallmark of our industry. It’s been one of the dark sides of our industry. And he has been on the receiving end of it, Vivek told the Hindustan Times.

Elaborating further, the actor added that he knows how frustrating it is and that it can make one feel extremely exhausted and tired. Vivek recalled sitting at home for 14 months without work after delivering an award winning, commercially successful performance in ‘Shoot Out At Lokhandwala’. He wanted to do something empowering, something that took him beyond that. Oberoi shifted his focus to philanthropy and business.

Vivek went on to add that Priyanka’s latest statement is inspirational in terms of finding a new space. According to him, she went out and explored something different and got out of a rut, and something magical happened for her personally and professionally.
