Twin Health raises Rs 1,000 crore to scale its Whole Body Digital Twin technology

Chennai: Twin Health, makers of the Whole Body Digital Twin precision health technology on Thursday announced $140 million (Rs 1,000 crore) in Series C funding as it is looking to scale its presence in India and the US.

The Series C funding round saw participation from Sequoia Capital India, ICONIQ Capital, Perceptive Advisors, Corner Ventures, LTS Investments, Helena and Sofina.

Twin Health is also looking to use the funding to increase the size of its team while also addressing more diseases.

“We are going to increase the team to really broadly roll this out nationwide in India, as well as broadly roll this out nationwide here in the US,” Jahangir Mohammed, founder and CEO of Twin Health. “We want to continue to innovate and address more and more diseases of our time. Currently, we are addressing metabolic diseases, such as, diabetes, hypertension, bad cholesterol levels called dyslipidemia, obesity, fatty liver, these are some of the diseases we are currently addressing. But our goal is to keep on innovating to address an even broader set of diseases.”

Founded in 2018, Twin Health invented the Whole Body Digital Twin to help reverse and prevent chronic metabolic diseases, while improving energy and physical health. Powered by artificial intelligence, the Whole Body Digital Twin is a dynamic representation of each individual’s unique metabolism, built from thousands of data points collected daily via non-invasive wearable sensors and self-reported preferences.

It provides guidance for nutrition, sleep, activity and meditative breathing to patients and their doctors to safely reverse and prevent a variety of chronic metabolic diseases, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and liver disease.

“Our Whole Body Digital Twin lives alongside you – giving you a simple, clear view into your beautifully complex biology, continuously learning about your metabolism and telling you what you can do to improve your health in the moment,” Jahangir said.

Chronic metabolic diseases like type 2 diabetes can start as an individual’s metabolism breaks down over time. The Whole Body Digital Twin uses cutting-edge technology and advanced medical science to deliver personalized and timely insights and recommendations that help heal the damaged metabolism.”

He said the company would look to address chronic kidney disease. arthritis and inflammatory arthritis going forward. He added that Twin Health is seeing good results with respect to reversing PCOS or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. However, these results have not been published yet.

Further, the company is eyeing expansion in large European countries within the next two years. These include the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain and France. It also expects to expand its footprint to South America, Brazil and Mexico as it sees tremendous pent up demand in these markets. Middle Eastern countries too will be a focus owing to the high prevalence of diabetes, Jahangir said.
