Disgraceful trolls use Ollie Henry’s Instagram birthday post as an excuse to hammer him with vile insults after he left Collingwood for Geelong

  • Left the Magpies to join the Cats late last year
  • ‘Fans’ trolled Henry, 20, on post from January

Bitter trolls have targeted an Instagram post from January to attack Geelong star Ollie Henry with disgraceful messages after his side’s loss to Collingwood on Friday night.

The 20-year-old left the Magpies in the off-season – and it seems some fans can’t get over it.

Henry booted two goals against his old team on Friday at the MCG, but it wasn’t enough to stop Craig McRae’s side running out winners by 22 points.

The forward celebrated one of his majors by cupping his ears to silence the vocal detractors decked out in black and white – and then a few ‘fans’ later took to social media to attack the young gun.

Among the brutal comments were: ‘Can’t run into an open goal you flop…enjoy the L (loss), with another posting: ‘back to the 2’s [reserve grade] you sell out.’

Another ‘fan’ referenced Henry’s wild goal celebration after being booed by Pies fans on Friday night when they wrote ‘celebration you sp***ic ha ha roaring like a cat’ while another hit the star with ‘suck s**t mummy’s boy’.

In the lead-up to Friday’s clash, Magpies forward Beau McCreery told the Prime Poddy tensions could boil over.

‘There’s a bit of bad blood there in a way,’ he said.

‘They (Geelong) are always good and obviously someone (Henry) has left Collingwood to go there.’

As a teenager, Henry represented the Geelong Falcons in the NAB League.

He was then recruited by Collingwood as 17th pick in the 2020 AFL draft – before requesting a trade ‘home’ to join his brother Jack Henry at the conclusion of the 2022 AFL season.
