Tempers flared at Chiefs practice on Saturday as All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce swung at teammate Jack Cochrane.
Kelce caught a touchdown from Patrick Mahomes in an offense-defense drill, with the second-year linebacker Cochrane unsuccessfully attempting to punch the ball loose afterwards.
And Kelce took issue with that late hit, as he punched his teammate in the helmet before a small shoving match ensued.
The pair was then separated by cornerback Trent McDuffie.
Hitting is often discouraged during practice, as evidenced by the protective padding Chiefs players could be seen wearing Saturday over their helmets.
Nonetheless, Kelce apologized for his actions after practice.
‘Gotta be a better teammate gotta be a better leader… plain and simple,’ he wrote on Twitter.

Kelce, a four-time All-Pro, had another stellar season in 2022 as the Chiefs went on to win the Super Bowl.
The tight end finished the regular season with 1,338 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns before tallying 81 yards and a touchdown in Super Bowl LVII.
Elsewhere on the Chiefs offense, Kadarius Toney was ruled out for several weeks after receiving arthroscopic surgery on his knee.
The wideout got the procedure to repair a torn meniscus.
Kelce is coming off of a tremendous season where he tallied 1,338 yards and 12 touchdowns
Kansas City could be without Toney into the regular season, but head coach Andy Reid said the surgery performed Tuesday gives the electric playmaker a chance to return to the field for the opening game against the Detroit Lions on Sept. 7.
Toney was injured in training camp Sunday while working on punt returns. Reid said Toney felt the injury when he was attempting to change direction suddenly.
Toney has totaled 55 receptions for 591 yards and two touchdowns in 19 games (eight starts) since being selected by the Giants in the first round (20th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft.
He played in 10 games as a rookie and two in 2022 for the Giants, and then seven with Kansas City as injuries have been an issue for him.
