Toronto Six goaltender Chuli among winners at 2022 PHF Awards – Sportsnet.ca

Toronto Six netminder Elaine Chuli was named the goaltender of the year among all trophies given at the 2022 PHF Awards.

The Waterford, Ont. native had a 16-0-1 record with a 1.82 goals against average and a .931 save percentage in the 2021-22 season.

Connecticut Whale right winger Kennedy Marchment received the highest honours with the 2022 MVP award.

The Courtice, Ont. native was selected second overall by the Buffalo Beauts in 2017 but instead left for Europe. She returned to North America in 2022 from three years spent in Sweden and led the Whale to the Isobel Cup final.

Marchment notched 33 points (13 goals, 20 assists) in 20 regular season games and four points (one goal, three assists) in two postseason games.

Buffalo Beauts blueliner Dominque Kremer was named the 2022 defender of the year.

Kremer had 11 points (six goals, five assists) in 20 games this season. The 24-year-old re-signed with the Beauts and became the first player to ink a multi-year deal in PHF history.

Connecticut Whale forward Taylor Girard was named 2022 newcomer of the year.

The first overall pick in the 2021 NWHL draft had an immediate impact by racking up 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in 20 games for the Whale. She helped Connecticut reach the PHF final with one goal and one assist over two postseason games.

Beauts defender Elena Orlando won the Denna Laing Award for the player who most exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to her sport. 

Six forward Mikayla Grant-Mentis, Beauts forward Cassidy Vinkle and Boston Pride forward Taylor Wenczkowski were named first, second and third stars of the year, respectively. The PHF three stars awards were voted by fans.

Grant-Mentis recently signed a landmark one-year deal with the Beauts making her the highest-paid player in the PHF.
