With Scott Frost being out, it puts even more pressure on these college football head coaches.

Now that Scott Frost no longer works for Nebraska, our attention has to be turned elsewhere.

While there weren’t a ton of candidates to put on the hot seat at the start of the year out of the Power Five, a few are having themselves a hard time alright in the early part of this season. We are only entering Week 3 of the 2022 college football season, but expect other major jobs to be opening up by Thanksgiving Weekend. None may open up as soon as Nebraska’s did, but we’ll see.

Here are five college football head coaches who are really feeling the heat entering only Week 3.

Auburn is 2-0, but Bryan Harsin needs to win at least six more games to feel safe

Though nobody in the SEC has done a poor enough job to merit being on the hot seat, there is no place like Auburn. With former athletic director Allen Greene being ousted, what makes you think head football coach Bryan Harsin will be getting a third year down on The Plains? The boosters tried to get rid of him after one season of 6-7 ball. While he is 2-0 thus far, he needs to go 8-4…

After barely hanging on to beat San Jose State, Auburn’s first real test of the year will be vs. Penn State next week. If they beat the Nittany Lions, they have a good shot at starting the year out 5-0, as Missouri and LSU are very winnable games. Unfortunately, Georgia, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Mississippi State are a murderer’s row of games for the Tigers only about a month down the road.

Harsin will need to take this one game at a time, but he should hit his rough patch by mid-season.
