#ThrowbackThursday: When Karan Johar called John Abraham for being the ‘flag-bearer of the fraternity’ – Times of India

Long before Kangana Ranaut labelled Karan Johar as the ‘flag-bearer of nepotism,’ the director gave John Abraham a similar title on an old episode of ‘Koffee With Karan’.
A Reddit user shared a throwback video of the director calling John a ‘flag bearer of the fraternity’. The clip from season 3, which aired in 2011, sees John on the hot seat, answering a range of questions from KJo during a rapid-fire round.

The director asks the actor, “Aamir, Salman, Shah Rukh – according to you (who is) the Khan of all seasons?”

To this, John replies, “You are very clannish. Why are you so clannish? Why can’t it be the Kumars or Devgns? Ajay Devgn has given the biggest hits.”

Karan, although shocked, laughs it off and tells John, “You are just causing confusion there; you are just being a brat. What do you mean I am clannish?” John then replies saying, “Of course, you are.”

To this, Karan says, “Thanks John for being the flag-bearer of the fraternity.”

Reacting to the video, other Reddit users said, “He took it humorously when John called him clannish rather than being offended.”

Another said, “Poor KJo aspired to be the flag bearer of the fraternity, ban gaye flag bearer of nepotism.”

On the work front, John was recently seen in the global blockbuster film ‘Pathaan’, co-starring opposite Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. The film went on to cross the Rs 1000 crore mark at the box office.

Karan on the other hand is getting ready for the release of his romantic-comedy ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ which stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.
