Running back Kareem Hunt remains as one of the top free agents available after the Browns decided not to re-sign him with the belief that he is “slipping” in terms of speed. Here are three teams Hunt could end up on by the start of the 2023 season.
Panthers
Carolina signed free-agent RB Miles Sanders earlier in free agency, but you can never surround your rookie quarterback with too much talent. No. 1 pick Bryce Young would surely benefit from having a one-two punch at running back with Sanders and Hunt.
The Panthers lost RB D’Onta Foreman in free agency as well and Hunt would bring back that type of hard-nosed running to a room that includes more agile runners like Sanders and Chuba Hubbard. The team will likely have a run-first mentality under new head coach Frank Reich and Hunt would provide experience and depth.
Broncos
Running back Javonte Williams may miss the start of the season after tearing his ACL in 2022, which would leave a massive hole at the position to begin the year. The move would make a lot of sense for both sides as Hunt tries to revamp his career and Denver gets a solid insurance policy.
Once Williams returns, the two could create one of the better running back duos in the league, similar to what we saw with Hunt and Nick Chubb in Cleveland. The Broncos did bring in RB Samaje Perine this offseason, but Hunt would likely be an upgrade over him.
Ravens
What better way to get back at the Browns than to sign with their AFC North rival and play them twice a year? Baltimore has had one of the NFL’s best rushing attacks for the past few years and Hunt would only add to that.
Running backs J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards each dealt with injuries last season as well, so Hunt would provide some much-needed depth to the room in case it gets hit with the injury bug once again. Plus, the Ravens certainly have the means to move money around after signing QB Lamar Jackson to his record-breaking deal.
