This is what Elon Musk has to say to people Twitter fired for criticising him – Times of India

There seems no end to drama ever since Elon Musk took over Twitter late last month. In a new controversy, if one may say so, Musk has reportedly sacked as many as 20 Twitter employees for criticising him. These layoffs come days after the company had cut more than 50% jobs just days after Musk joined. The company reportedly also laid off 5,000 contractual workers earlier this week.
In a tweet Platformer’s Casey Newton said that Twitter has sacked closer to 20 software engineers for speaking up internally against Musk. Newton has shared a series of tweets on this. Elon Musk too has replied to one of such tweets.
“NEW: Employees who have criticized Elon Musk in Twitter’s Slack channels were fired overnight over email. “We regret to inform you that your employment is terminated immediately,” they’re being told over email. “Your recent behavior has violated company policy,” Newton posted.
“It’s not clear how many people were affected; seems like it’s more than 10 people but I’m working to learn more. More in @plaformer today; email me if you know something,” he says in another tweet. “Employees say it appears that around 20 people have been fired so far for their Slack posts,” said Newton in a follow up Tweet, putting the number at 20. One of his posts also claims about how dissent has been a part of Twitter culture. “It’s important to note that Twitter has long cultivated a culture of internal dissent: “Communicate fearlessly to build trust.” No internal codes of conduct have changed since Elon took over. So this is all out of the blue,” goes the post.
Elon Musk’s reply
Replying to one of the stories on these sackings Musk wrote: “I would like to apologize for firing these geniuses. Their immense talent will no doubt be of great use elsewhere.”
“after ten years of relentless work adding an additional 140 characters to tweets, i was fired last night from twitter after calling my literal boss a “cock smoking lunatic nazi.” shocked and saddened it has come to this,” tweeted Mike Solana, apparently quoting a laid off Twitter employee. To this Musk replied: “The injustice of it all”.
