Is this the beginning of the end of the Aaron Rodgers era in Green Bay?
Rodgers is dealing not only with a nagging thumb injury, but also an injury to his ribs. On Sunday, he was removed late in the game from the Packers’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, with backup Jordan Love playing admirably in his place. That led to speculation that the team might shut Rodgers down to see what Love could do over the final stretch of the 2022 season. With the Pack still sniffing around the playoff picture, though, Rodgers will seemingly get the call on Sunday. If and when Green Bay is eliminated from postseason contention, Love will likely step in to the QB1 role, something even Rodgers seems to endorse. If Love plays well enough, GM Brian Gutekunst will have a tough decision to make in the offseason, one that will not only have massive ripple effects for the Packers, but for the rest of the league as well.
