Tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios drops bombshell about his romance with Costeen Hatzi

Nick Kyrgios has hinted at getting engaged to his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi before – calling her ‘wifey’ and posting a diamond ring emoji with a photo of the couple cuddling on the court – but he took things up a notch in a recent Instagram post.

The bad boy of tennis was responding to questions in a Q&A session on his Instagram story on Saturday when one fan asked, ‘When are you marrying coz’.

Kyrgios responded with a picture of him embracing his partner after a match at this year’s Australian Open accompanied by the caption, ‘Very soon’ followed by heart and diamond ring emojis.

Asked when he is going to marry his girlfriend of six months, a smitten Kyrgios replied, ‘Very soon,’ in an Instagram post on Saturday

Hatzi and the 27-year-old tennis star regularly gush about each other on social media and have moved into an apartment in Sydney

The star and his designer furniture retailer partner have been very upfront about their feelings for each other on social media.

When she baked him a NBA-themed cake for the basketball fan’s birthday in late April, Kyrgios could be heard calling her ‘wifey’ as he thanked her for the dessert in a video posted just hours after he posted photos of them to Instagram with padlock and diamond ring emojis.

Costeen posted a gushing tribute to him: ‘I can’t wait to do life with you and travel the world together, I love you today and forever, my squish.’

Kyrgios’ management soon denied the pair – who became an item in December last year after he split with long-time girlfriend Chiara Passari – were engaged.

Hatzi watched all of Nick’s games at this year’s Australian Open as he took out the men’s doubles title with close friend Thanasi Kokkinakis and has been described as a key member of his team.

The pyschology student just celebrated her 22nd birthday and the pair have moved into an apartment in the inner-Sydney suburb of Zetland. 

The ‘very soon’ response wasn’t the only time he gushed over Hatzi during the Q&A session, which also gave fans some insights into his tennis – and how he feels about fellow Aussie player Bernard Tomic.

Kyrgios told a fan he feels like he’s ‘living in a dream’ because he gets to travel the world with his ‘best friend’

Asked, ‘How exciting is it to be able to travel the world with your best friend?’, Kyrgios responded, ‘It’s the best thing ever honestly. I’m so grateful & feel like I’m living in a dream lol.’

When a fan posted, ‘Bernard says he’s better than u,’ the Canberra-born Aussie Open doubles champ didn’t mince his words.

‘Better in what way?’ he wrote. ‘I’ve got a higher career high. More money, more wins and give back whenever I can. 

‘It’s time for BT to just quiet down. He ain’t even playing anymore. I got years left.’

Kyrgios told Bernard Tomic to ‘quiet down’ and pointed out he has more wins and more money than his fellow Aussie (the pair are pictured before their match at the 2019 Kooyong Classic in Melbourne) 

Kyrgios then revealed that racquet head speed is the key to his powerful forehand, grass is favourite surface, he is his own biggest role model, and Costeen has no habits that annoy him. 

The story also featured  a look at the new tattoo that dominates his left arm, showing an adult male lion standing over a pool of water that’s reflecting an image of a lion cub. 

One revealing exchange saw him build his own perfect tennis player using the best attributes of other stars.

He chose the forehand of Jack Sock combined with Roger Federer, the backhand of Novak Djokovic, the volleying skills of Federer, the serve of John Isner combined with Reilly Opelka, the movement of Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, and the mental strength of Nadal and Lleyton Hewitt.   

But his last choice was the most telling: for swagger, he simply answered ‘me’.
