Taylor Swift Is Turning Hollywood Director

After developing a 14-minute short for her song “All Too Well,” Taylor Swift is directing a feature-length movie for Searchlight Pictures. As reported by Variety, the Grammy winner has already written the script for the project, the details of which are yet to be revealed.

The news follows Swift’s release of footage of herself directing “All Too Well,” writing on Instagram that “the first seeds of this short film were planted over 10 years ago, and I’ll never forget the behind-the-scenes moments of the shoot.” “I also want to say thank you to our wonderful background actors and crew who made this story come to life so naturally. I loved every second of it and I will always remember it. All. Too. Well.” In the video, Swift appears totally comfortable giving notes to actors Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien—weighing in on everything from their physical chemistry to camera angles.

The Midnights musician has flirted with Hollywood for years—making her acting debut in the 2010 rom-com Valentine’s Day. More recently, she appeared in the film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s *Cats—*telling the director in an interview for British Vogue, “I have no idea [if I will keep acting]. When I was younger, I used to get questions like, ‘Where do you see yourself in 10 years?’ I’d try to answer. As I get older, I’m learning that wisdom is learning how dumb you are compared to how much you are going to know.”

While she made a cameo in David O. Russell’s Amsterdam earlier this year, directing seems like a more natural fit for the storyteller. As she told British Vogue: “I think [writing] is really important—also from the side of ownership over what you do and make… Even if you aren’t a natural writer, you should try to involve yourself in the messages you’re sending.”
