Sydney Sweeney on Manifesting Her Latest Role—the New Face of Armani Beauty
The notes of the My Way are rich with meaning for Sweeney, too. Over the past year, the scent has traveled with her everywhere. “I remember growing up and wanting to find that one scent that was ‘me,’ like if someone smelled it, they would think of Sydney,” she says. “When I tried My Way I was like, ‘Holy moly!’ This is actually me.” She, like Billie Eilish, is a vanilla person: “Vanilla’s honestly my favorite, and I have vanilla candles burning in my house everywhere. “I love cooking with vanilla because I bake cookies all the time,” she says. Then, there’s the orange blossom top note with jasmine and tuberose at heart. “I love flowers; I have flowers all over my house,” she says. “I try to have them delivered every week, and [then] I save them and dry press them,” she says. Another is cedarwood, which conjures her childhood and love for the outdoors. “I grew up on a lake and in the forest having campfires,” she says. “It truly inspires so many different memories and who I am.”
Given how much time Sweeney spends embodying different characters, it’s easy to understand why anything that feels pure “Sydney” is special to her. To tap further into real life, Sweeney counts walking her rescue dog Tank, lighting candles (“It’s is a huge thing for me,” she emphasizes), and focusing on the moment as ways to stay grounded. “I think I’m still wrapping my head around everything that’s been going on,” she explains. “I’ve been working towards this dream since I was 11, and it’s been a really long and hard journey. I’m really grateful that I’m able to be in this position, finally.”
