Swara Bhasker praises Oscar-nominated documentary ‘Writing With Fire’; says it is ‘great’ that South Asian stories are being appreciated in the West – Times of India

Swara Bhasker dressed her best as she attended a pre-Oscar party, co-hosted by Priyanka Chopra ahead of the ceremony set to take place on Sunday.

Sharing glimpses from the party, Swara took to her handle to write a note that read, “What a joyous feeling to be in a room of South Asian talent and celebrate the success of South Asians at the Oscar.. the sense of community and fraternity I witnessed that night was among the most uplifting things I’ve witnessed in my professional life! Good luck for the Oscars nominees!”

In an interview with Hindustan Times, the actress praised the Indian documentary ‘Writing With Fire’ that is up for an Academy Award. “This year, India’s Writing with Fire is in the race to win an Oscar, which shows how the very Indian story resonated internationally. It is great that Indian talent and South Asian stories are being appreciated in the West,” she said.

The actress also didn’t brush out the idea of her possibly working on a Hollywood project in the future.

According to the report, the actress also opened up about her experience attending the gala with stars such as Riz Ahmed, Aziz Ansari, Lilly Singh, Kal Penn and Poorna Jagannathan.

“It was a lovely, vibrant, warm evening with very dynamic talent in the room. There were lots of really interesting, creative, talented people. It was really nice to be there and to see our own people excelling in Hollywood, and, you know, celebrating each other,” Bhasker said to the portal.

She also gushed about her meeting with Priyanka, Kal, among other talents who are working both in India and in Hollywood.
