SUNY Morrisville have unveiled a remarkable multi-purpose black football field in what the university have described as ‘a bold new direction’.

The field also has red lines across it for men’s lacrosse, blue for women’s lacrosse, green for soccer and yellow markings for field hocky.

The white markings outline the traditional football field and are by far the most striking feature of the new design.

Matt Grawrock, the program’s athletic director, is thrilled with the new design.

‘We wanted to move in a bold, new direction that would give our department and student-athletes a unique identity to rally around,’ Grawrock said.

He added that he believes the field will give competing teams ‘a true home-field experience and advantage’ when it comes to playing on it.

The overall process is now finally concluded after nearly 18 months of talk and work.

Sports Illustrated says discussions over replacing the field started early in 2022 and and the physical work started two months ago in May.

An official ribbon cutting unveiling is reported to be scheduled in the coming weeks.
