India’s Sukant Kadam claimed a gold at the Uganda Para Badminton International, while Tokyo Paralympics gold medallist Pramod Bhagat settled for three silver medals here today. World No. 5 Kadam defeated compatriot Nilesh Balu Gaikwad 21-16 17-21 21-10 in men’s singles SL4 category. World No. 1 Bhagat lost all his three finals. In men’s singles SL3, Bhagat lost to his doubles partner Manoj Sarkar 19-21 16-21. In men’s doubles, Bhagat and Sarkar lost 21-10 20-22 15-21 to compatriots Mohammad Arwaz Ansari and Deep Ranjan Bisoyee. In SL3-SU5 mixed doubles, Bhagat and Palak Joshi lost 19-21 16-21 to India’s Ruthick Ragupathi and Manasi Joshi.

Aronian wins Tata Steel India blitz title
World No. 4 Levon Aronian clinched the Tata Steel Chess India blitz title, pipping Indian teenage sensation Arjun Erigaisi in a thrilling armageddon finish here today. After leapfrogging sole leader Nihal Sarin, both Aronian and Arjun finished on same points and the match was decided in armageddon. Earlier, in the final round of the two-day blitz meet, Sarin lost to former world junior champion Parham Maghsoodloo of Iran. Aronian and Arjun, on the other hand, won their respective matches.
