Sports Ministry approves financial assistance for wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Sunil Kumar

The Sports Ministry’s Mission Olympic Cell has approved financial assistance for wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Sunil Kumar for exposure of foreign training. The ministry said that an amount of 7.53 lakh rupees was earlier approved for Bajrang Punia’s 26 day training camp in Moscow. It added, he is now supported with an additional 1.76 lakh rupees for his ongoing camp that started on 27th of December. The camp concludes this month. Mr Punia said that he is going to give his best as he aims to change the colour of his medal in Paris 2024.
The Ministry said that Greco-Roman wrestler Sunil Kumar has been also approved an amount of 10.85 lakh for a special training camp at Romania and Hungary with his sparring partner and coach. Sunil, who is a part of the Target Olympic Podium Scheme Development group, will be using the foreign exposure trip to prepare for the upcoming United World Wrestling Ranking events.
The Ministry stated that Haryana-based golfer Diksha Dagar and Judoka Yash Ghangas have been included in the Target Olympic Podium Scheme in the Core and Development groups respectively.
