‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ swung into Indian theatres on Thursday and cast its web at the box office. The animated film, a sequel to the Oscar-winning ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’, raked in the big bucks to become one of the best-performing animated films in the country.
According to a statement released by the film’s production house, the movie recorded the biggest opening weekend for an animated film in India. The film has grossed double the lifetime collections of the prequel in the opening weekend itself.
The film which had an early start at the box office, earned an estimated Rs 4.20 crore on Thursday, Rs 3.34 crore on Friday and Rs 5.19 crore on Saturday. The film saw growth in business on Sunday, earning an estimated collection of Rs 6.11 crore.

This takes the film’s overall nett total to an estimated Rs 18.84 crore. Its gross collections are estimated to be around Rs 22.87 crore.
‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ grossed an estimated $120.5 million over the weekend in the US, making it the second-biggest opening of 2023. The film stands just a little behind ‘The Super Mario Bros’ film that garnered $146 million at the box office.
The original “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” raked in over $35 million during its first three days of release in December 2018 and won the Oscar for best-animated feature film. The sequel, “Across the Spider-Verse,” which premiered in theatres on June 2, brought in three times the revenue in its opening weekend.

The film directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson is also the highest-rated superhero film of all time with an audience score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.
