Sony PlayStation’s new loyalty program gets a confirmed launch date for US – Times of India

PlayStation Stars, Playstations’ new loyalty program, will launch in the US and South America on October 5, Sony announced in a blogpost. The program launched first in Asia today, i.e. September 29. Sony will also roll out the program for the PlayStation players in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand on October 13.

PlayStation Stars is a free-to-join loyalty program. To become a member, you just need an adult account for PlayStation Network and accept the program’s Terms of Service. You do not need a PS Plus membership to join the loyalty program, though having it will certainly help you with some benefits

“The full PlayStation Stars experience is accessible through the PlayStation App on iOS and Android. You can also join PlayStation Stars via playstation.com.”, said Sony. The Japanese tech and gaming giant also plans to bring the program to consoles.
PlayStation Stars: The benefits
With the PlayStation Stars loyalty program, “you earn rewards by completing a variety of campaigns and activities.” For example, in the “Monthly Check-In” campaign, you just have to play any game to receive a reward. Similarly, you mau have to earn trophies or become one of the first players to platinum a blockbuster title in their country/region to get rewards. Sony will keep adding new campaigns and they can be checked via the PlayStation app.

“There are two types of rewards – loyalty points and digital collectibles. Points can be redeemed in a catalog that may include PSN wallet funds, exclusive digital collectibles and select PlayStation Store products. As an additional benefit, PlayStation Plus members enrolled in PlayStation Stars automatically earn points for purchases on PlayStation Store.”, said Sony.
All the new joinees will get the Star Gazer Telescope digital collectible. Some of the other digital collectibles for members include Punto the gondolier from Ape Escape 2, PocketStation, Toro and Kuro celebrating, and more.
