In November 2021, the US-based chipmaker unveiled the developer platform and earlier this year, the company announced its partnership with game developer Square Enix. This partnership allowed both companies to work on new extended reality (XR) experiences through the Snapdragon Spaces XR Developer Platform.

Developers can also buy a hardware development kit along with downloading Snapdragon Spaces to begin creating AR experiences on commercial hardware. These efforts indicate Qualcomm’s commitment to boosting XR innovations. Developers on downloading the Snapdragon Spaces platform will be allowed to access the foundational tools needed to create 3D applications for AR glasses from scratch. Developer Hardware Kit price and specifications
Qualcomm has also started selling Snapdragon Spaces hardware development kit that includes — the Lenovo ThinkReality A3 smart glasses and a Motorola Edge+ (2022) smartphone. Both the devices are available at the above-mentioned site and carry a combined price tag of $1,999 (around Rs 1,55,040).
The smart glasses are powered by the Snapdragon XR1 platform. The A3 smart glasses also sport an 8MP RGB camera that offers 1080p video and dual fish-eye cameras for room-scale tracking.c

The company has also recently launched the Snapdragon Metaverse Fund. Qualcomm has announced an investment of up to $100 million in this fund that will help developers and companies to innovate and build immersive experiences with AR, mixed reality and VR.
