Shefali Shah says that earlier the woman was an accessory, confesses she’s not a method actor – Times of India

Shefali Shah is literally wooing the audience with solid performances back-to-back. While she made an impact with two seasons of ‘Delhi Crime’ where she played the role of a DCP, Shefali left a major mark in ‘Darlings’ and ‘Jalsa’. Clearly, it’s a great time for actresses and Shefali agrees.
In a recent interview, the actress was asked about how Neena Gupta had gone on to ask people for work earlier because she didn’t have anything, but now she has back-to-back projects. Reacting to it, Shefali said in a podcast with Smita Prakash for ANI that earlier the women was used as an accessory. Hence, she had a shelf life of 18-25 years. After that, when an actress was offered something she was told, “hero ki mummy ka role hai, heroine ki behen ka role hai.” They were told about our relationship with the main character and not about what their character was, said Shefali. But now, all the characters have become the leads and they’re the centre of the shows or films.

While she continued to get lauded for her performances, Shefali confessed that she doesn’t believe in method acting. If it’s a scene where you’re dying or killing someone, you’re not actually going to do that right? So, she isn’t a method actor. However, the actress puts in a lot of thought into the character and has conversations with a director. She admits that she rather be recognised as the character than hear that ‘Shefali did a good role’.
Shefali was also seen in ‘Human’ and ‘Doctor G’ last year.
