Shefali Shah reveals she refused films after playing Akshay Kumar’s mom at 28 in ‘Waqt’ – Times of India

Shefali Shah has shared her thoughts on the age disparity in Bollywood when it comes to roles offered to male and female actors. In a recent interview the ‘Delhi Crime’ actress highlighted how women, after a certain age, were only offered mother-aunty roles while the men in their 50s continued to essay lead roles. Speaking to a news portal, Shefali Shah revealed that she played Akshay Kumar’s mother in ‘Waqt’, when she was around 28 years old. And after a point, the actress refused movies and decided that if she was not getting the work she wants, she will sit at home.

Recently, the actress opened a restaurant in Ahmedabad. Speaking about the same Shefali had told ETimes, “I have always believed life is a celebration. I love hosting people and decorating dining spaces. Plus, I am a foodie. So it all added up and everything fell in place. It took me less than a month to do up the place. My sister Neha has been in the hospitality business and she’s also in this”.

On the professional front, Shefali Shah is enjoying a busy schedule. The actress will be seen in Junglee Pictures’ ‘Doctor G’ with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rakul Preet Singh and has ‘Darlings’ with Alia Bhatt and Vijay Verma. She is also reuniting with husband Vipul Amrutlal Shah, he is calling the shots for her next web series. And Shefali is also working on the second season of Emmy Award winning show ‘Delhi Crime’.
