Luv Sinha, who followed the footsteps of his father Shatrughan Sinha and sister Sonakshi Sinha, made his foray into Bollywood in 2010 with ‘Sadiyaan‘. Although he has a very few films to his credit, he describes himself as someone who is passionate about acting and loves being lost in work. In an interview with ETimes, he reveals he is waiting for the one film that would change his destiny. The young actor also spoke about his bond with his legendary father and painted a picture of a typical off-day at the Sinha household. Excerpts…
Every actor has his own journey and destiny. Does being a son of Shatrughan Sinha and brother of Sonakshi Sinha put undue pressure on you as an actor?
There’s no pressure. First of all, there’s no comparison between me and Sonakshi. She’s a female actor, I am a male actor. In regards to the pressure, I would say that being my father’s son has always been a blessing for me. It’s a motivating factor. Obviously, it drives me to do even harder to prove myself. I don’t believe that I have been given the right opportunity till date to showcase my work. In Paltan, you could see some of it. And Paltan was a great film to be a part of, but I would want even greater opportunities. I would want that one correct opportunity to showcase my work as an actor, showcase my skills as an actor, because I work very hard. And if I felt personally that I don’t have the capacity or the capabilities to act, I would not waste my time in this industry. I believe that it just takes that one film to change an actor’s destiny. I am very realistic and very practical. I am open to all sorts of roles. For me, the main thing is the role should give me a chance to act, it should give me a chance to perform and I should be noticeable. That’s what matters to me.Everybody knows Shatrughan Sinha as the brilliant actor that he is. How is he as a father at home?
For me, my father is not my friend, he is my father and I believe that is how it should be. I have tremendous respect for him and I look up to him. For me, he has been my greatest teacher on how to conduct myself, how to behave publicly and how to also be in the industry, behave in the industry with others, how to respect others, how to be polite but firm. So this is what I have always learned from him. Obviously, in regards to politics or cinema, sometimes we have discussions, I may not agree with everything that my father says but that’s okay, that’s how you learn. And sometimes obviously my father, because he is my father with the amount of experience and knowledge that he has, I learn so much from him even till date. And I think for me my biggest inspiration and my greatest teacher will always be my father. I am very blessed and fortunate to have him as my father. I wouldn’t say my father is strict but yes at the end of the day we would call ourselves in a way like a family that is a little bit more conservative, a little bit more traditional in many ways and that’s how I like it. That’s how I want it to be when I have my own family.

What does a typical off-day at Sinha household look like?
A typical off day at home is different for everyone. For me there are basically no days off because I work all the time. I don’t feel that I need an off day. Work makes me happy. So if I’m not working on set, I’ll be working on my company House of Creativity. Or I’ll be focusing on what I have to do in Patna politically. So for me, there’s no such thing as an off day. If I do take a day off, I love watching movies. There are times when we as a family like to go out for dinner together. An off day for us is just spending time with each other as much as we can. Because I think for any child, what matters is their parents. No outsiders are more important than our parents. And I think spending time with your family is a blessing for all children. And the time that we have with them should be cherished. So I think that’s what matters to me, spending time with my family.
