Shahid Kapoor reveals he got 25 stitches while shooting for ‘Jersey’: I busted my lip for this film – Times of India

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor recently interacted with fans during a live session on Instagram. During his interaction, the actor opened up about his upcoming sports drama ‘Jersey’.

When a fan questioned about his gruesome training session to ace the role of a cricketer with a real seasoned ball, Shahid revealed that he was injured during his practice session. He shared, “I busted my lip on this film. My strongest memory of Jersey will be that I felt that I will never look the same again.”

Recalling the incident behind the camera, he added, “It (the ball) busted my lower lip and we actually had to stop shooting for two months because of that. I had to get some 25 stitches. It actually took three months for my lip to feel normal, it still doesn’t feel normal. There’s a part on my lip (and offered fans a close look at it) which I feel like its dead. I can’t move it. So I’ve given my blood to this film.”

Helmed by director Gowtam Tinnanuri, ‘Jersey’ is presented by Allu Arvind. Backed by Aman Gill, Dil Raju, S. Naga Vamsi, and also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur in pivotal roles, apart from Shahid Kapoor in the lead.

Talking about working with father Pankaj Kapur, Shahid previously said, “There is a scene where we (Shahid and Pankaj Kapur) are having tea together. That was our first day together. I had shot for 15 days already. So for some reason, Gowtam (Tinnanuri) took his shot first. My dad did the take and suddenly Gowtam’s expression changed. Then he took me to a corner and I was like ‘what happened?’ He was like ‘Sir, will you be able to match his performance because he is outstanding.” Shahid went on to state that working with his dad was a learning experience. “I am not intimidated by him, but I wanted to do my best. It’s amazing to stand with a great actor like him. It’s just amazing seeing what he is doing with his craft. When I worked with Irrfan sir, Tabu ma’am, Kay Kay sir, and him – it’s always a learning experience. It’s scary when you feel you are the best thing in anything. You should always learn,” he added.

The film is going to be Shahid’s next big release in a long time, since his last release was the box office hit ‘Kabir Singh’.

‘Jersey’ is slated to release on December 31, 2021.
