Scott Arfield on life under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and lack of training time

SCOTT ARFIELD admits the Rangers players are loving life under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Four of those matches ended in victory, with last night’s dead rubber in Lyon finishing a 1-1 draw.

Rangers – like most clubs – have a hectic fixture schedule on the horizon as the country enters the festive period.

This means van Bronskhorst has not enjoyed as much time on the training field as he perhaps would have liked.

But Arfield, who played the last half-an-hour in France last night, says all of the players have taken to the new manager well.

He told the media: “We are all enjoying working under the manager and that has been shown in our performances.

“Due to the volume of games at the moment we can’t do a huge amount of training so we are doing a lot of work in team meetings.

“We believe as a team and a club we can go to Lyon and win the game so I am disappointed we didn’t win, that is the mentality you need as a Rangers player.

“You are in football to play the best teams at the best arenas, whoever we face next it will be a difficult game and we look forward to the draw.

“With the calibre of players we have here, people are after your shirt every game, whenever you are called upon you try to grab that shirt.

“I’m happy here and everyone knows that, right now I am fully focused on helping the team.

“We have given players minutes and tried different formations which will do us great going into this busy schedule.”

Rangers will make the short joruney across the M8 on Sunday to face Hearts in what is sure to be a tasty encounter at Tynecastle.

Arfield is looking forward to the challenge.

He said: “We know Hearts will be a tough game in a top atmosphere. It is shaping up to be a great game and one I’m looking forward to.”
