Scotland star McGinn in Moshni jibe as he reacts to Omicron vaccine update

SCOTLAND star John McGinn couldn’t resist a jibe at former Rangers player Bilel Moshni as he reacted to an update on Covid vaccine guidance.

Boris Johnson tonight revealed the UK has increased its Covid alert status from level three to level four amid a surge in Omicron cases.

And the Prime Minister brought forward the target to offer all adults the booster jab by a month, to the end of December.

Some medical appointments could be postponed amid the vaccine drive with Scots to be offered the booster before the New Year.

It means Scots will be encouraged to receive their third dose of the jab.

And reacting to the news, Aston Villa ace McGinn recalled the feisty scenes at the end of the play-off match between Motherwell and Rangers in 2015.

Tunisian defender Moshni was part of the Rangers side that fell to a 3-0 defeat at Fir Park in the second-leg of a 6-1 agregate defeat keeping Rangers in the Championship for another season.

The stopper came off the bench with just 18 minutes left but is best known for the brawl after the match with then Motherwell striker Lee Erwin.

Moshni punched and kicked Erwin after a fiery confrontation between the pair, and Erwin pushing the defender, before he was sent off in the tunnel for his actions.

Erwin and unused Motherwell sub Fraser Kerr were also sent off after the match for their involvement.

And reacting to the Covid update from the PM this evening, McGinn referenced the incident tweeting: “More jabs than Bilel Mohsni”.

The tweet quickly racked up more than 12,000 likes with fellow pro Liam Kelly, who is at Motherwell but came through the ranks at Rangers posting laughing emojis.

Mohsni left Rangers in 2015 after the play-off loss but was handed a seven match ban for the incident.
