Sara Ali Khan reveals she asked Anand L Rai to replace her in ‘Atrangi Re’ after ‘Love Aaj Kal’ failure – Times of India

Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan took the failure of her film ‘Love Aaj Kal’ to heart and even decided to opt out of her next film, but lucky for her, director Aanand L Rai was able to take her out of it.
The actress, in her latest interview, opened up about learning to ‘forgive’ herself after the failure of the Imtiaz Ali film that saw her starring with Kartik Aaryan. In her interview with Anupama Chopra, the actress said that she failure of the movie made her call Rai and ask him to replace her in ‘Atrangi Re’.

However, the director refused to do so and instead gave her some words of advice. “He told me, ‘Beta if you fall, you do not just get up, but you get up and run. This is the kind of film in which you can either play on the backfoot or give it your all, I request you to do the latter,'” Sara said in the interview.

The actress also admitted that during her first years in the industry, she was in ‘la-la land’ and that she was unable to see things for what they were.

“I was not seeing the mirror for what it was, I was being overtly effusive, attention seeking, people-pleasing, and loud,” she said to Filmy Companion.

While reflecting on her early work and behaviour, she said, it was ‘not rooted in reality’.

In another interview with PTI, the actress also said that the failure of her last few releases made her reassess her choices as an artist and choose scripts that will bring her “creative satisfaction”.

“I have realised that if you do a film because you think it will work, and then it doesn’t work, then it is very hurtful. It really pains you. I never want to do that again. It is important to make films for the right decision and that should be creative satisfaction primarily,” Sara told PTI.

Sara will be seen next in the film ‘Gaslight’ that is slated for an OTT release.
