New Orleans Saints defensive lineman Marcus Davenport and Carolina Panthers running back D’Onta Foreman came to blows during the final game of the season Sunday.
The Saints and Panthers’ Week 18 finale was rendered meaningless with both teams already eliminated from playoff contention but that did not stop tensions boiling over.
Saints defensive lineman Davenport made a tackle on Panthers’ Foreman, which led to the two exchanging words.

Teammates from both sides flew in to attempt to split the pair up and diffuse the tension but the two rivals still managed to get up into one another’s faces.
Davenport then threw more than words as he aggressively slapped Foreman, catching Panthers’ Ian Thomas too in the process.
Foreman, now extremely riled up, related by landing a punch on the front of Davenport’s helmet.

The running back attempted to continue the brawl, aimlessly swinging his arms at any player in black and gold within his reach.
But official Mike Morgan managed to intervene, dragging Foreman away from the scene before both players were ejected.
The 2022 season is now over for both Foreman and Davenport, and both may be playing for new teams in 2023.

Foreman signed a one-year deal with Carolina after spending the 2021 season with the Tennessee Titans, while Davenport just finished out his rookie contract with the Saints.
The Saints had a narrow 7-0 lead at the time but the Panthers managed to muster a late comeback in the second half to clinch a 10-7 victory to at least end the season on a high note.

The Saints finished with some wide statistical advantages, outgaining Carolina 304 yards to 203, but the game remained tight until the end because of New Orleans’ inability to score on four possessions inside the Panthers 40-yard line.
The Saints (7-10) were in position to win when safety Daniel Sorensen intercepted Sam Darnold near midfield and returned it to the Carolina 35 with 1:36 to go.
But New Orleans failed to move the ball on three plays and Wil Lutz missed a 55-yard field goal attempt – his second miss of the game.
