If you have Gemini or Cancer in your astrological chart, Rosetta Getty’s new collection might speak to you on a particularly visceral level. For her latest artist collaboration, she teamed up with astrologist Ilana Kozlov to design prints and color palettes that connect with Gemini and Cancer, the signs that will overlap with her pre-fall 2022 collection’s launch. A scarf dress featured fantastical constellations, mythical creatures, and charts lifted from an 18th century drawing, while a smocked cotton number had more familiar symbols and signs. For the astrology neophyte, the biggest surprise may be that the swirling watercolor print of ice blue, mint, yellow, and blush was meant to evoke Gemini and Cancer seasons, too; yellow and pink are said to be the auras of people born under those signs, and swirled together, they capture the mood of early summer.
Getty said she’s been interested in astrology since her childhood, but it’s also a growing fascination of young women, in part driven by the pandemic’s uncertainty. Gen Z and millennial shoppers will come for the dreamy story and astrological prints, but they’ll stay for the collection’s other youthful ideas: super-flared trousers, two-piece sets, head-to-toe leather, and truly gargantuan loafers.
