Report: Cavaliers finalizing contract buyout with Kevin Love

It appears Kevin Love‘s tenure with the Cleveland Cavaliers is coming to an end after eight seasons.

The Cavaliers and Love are reportedly finalizing a contract buyout, according to Shams Charania and Jason Lloyd of The Athletic.

The 34-year-old power forward/centre is in the final season of a four-year contract he signed with the Cavaliers in 2018. He is averaging 8.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists over 41 games during the 2022-23 season.

A five-time all-star, Love was traded to the Cavaliers from the Timberwolves in a blockbuster deal in August 2014 that saw former No. 1 overall picks Anthony Bennett and Andrew Wiggins sent to Minnesota.

Love helped Cleveland win the NBA title in 2016 and is the only player from the championship-winning lineup remaining on the Cavaliers.

Cleveland (38-23) is fourth in the Eastern Conference and had its seven-game winning streak snapped Wednesday night with a 118-112 loss on the road to the Philadelphia 76ers.
