Ravens not concerned with Lamar Jackson’s sore back?

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson missed practice Wednesday with a sore back, but the team doesn’t appear too worried, offensive coordinator Greg Roman insisted, per ESPN’s Jamison Hensley.

“I don’t think it’s anything serious,” Roman said. “But we’re just going to have to kind of wait and see. I think he’s going to be in good shape. We’ll wait and see.”

However, per several reporters on the Ravens beat (h/t Pro Football Talk), Jackson was one of several Baltimore players who was not on the field for Thursday’s practice, which isn’t a good sign with a Week 4 matchup against the Denver Broncos coming up on Sunday.

Jackson has never missed a game due to injury in his NFL career. The only games he hasn’t played were the 2019 season finale, when the Ravens had already clinched the AFC’s top playoff spot, and Week 12 last season due to a positive COVID-19 test.

The 24-year-old took quite a few big hits in Sunday’s 19-17 win over the Detroit Lions and was sacked four times. According to ESPN, he has been hit an NFL-high 44 times this season.

Jackson is getting hit more often as he handles more rushing duties with J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards out for the year with injuries. He has 251 yards and two touchdowns on the ground through three games.

The 2019 MVP has also completed 60.9% of his passes for 761 yards and three touchdowns against three interceptions.

Baltimore is 2-1 entering Week 4 against the Broncos.
