Rakul Preet Singh opens up about the call for a ban on ‘Thank God’ prior to its release for hurting religious sentiments – Times of India

Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh starrer ‘Thank God’ had received a lot of flak online and from Hindu fringe groups prior to its release.

Spilling some beans on the ban calls for the film, Rakul told a news portal that she would like to refrain from saying anything. The actress added that if they have hurt religious sentiments then people have all the right to object. However, she asked people to watch the film first.

According to her, hurting religious sentiments is not the motive of the film. In fact, it’s celebrating our culture and humanity in a beautiful way, Rakul told IndiaToday.in.

‘Thank God’ has also reportedly landed in trouble in Uttar Pradesh after a complaint was filed against the cast and director Indra Kumar for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. They were not happy that in the ‘Thank God’ trailer, Lord Chitragupta, who calculates everyone’s sins and merits after death, is portrayed in modern costume.

Not only this, Hindu Janajagruti Samithi in Karnataka objected to the film’s trailer. They also expressed that the State and Central Home ministries should ban the film as it has hurt religious sentiments. They also reportedly warned that they would protest on the streets.

The film was released on October 25 where it locked horns with Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Ram Setu’.
