Rajiv Kapoor’s Death: Exes, Divya Rana and Pune-based airhostess, rushed to his house upon hearing the tragic news- Exclusive – Times of India

Rajiv Kapoor was unlucky in love. While we are not sure (most probably, she was not; sources say that the separation was ugly) whether his ex-wife Arti Sabharwal was around at his demise— but his girlfriends bonded with him even in death, clearly they both still loved him a lot. ETimes has it that both Rajiv’s exes, Divya Rana- his co-star in ‘Ek Jaan Hain Hum’ (1983)- and the airhostess from Pune who spent a lot of time with him in his later years of life- could not control themselves from darting to his home after he passed away on June 9, 2021.
This is coming FIRST and EXCLUSIVE to you on ETimes and even we were astounded to hear about the two ladies being with the Kapoor family in those traumatic hours. We hear, the airhostess came in first and was inconsolable; she was refusing Rajiv from being taken away. Divyas Rana came in a few minutes after the air hostess, but she too wept inconsolably.

The Kapoors were naturally a bit surprised seeing the two ladies in question.

Divya Rana was said to be married in Dubai and had changed her name to Salma Manekia, but now we also hear that her marriage has run into a bit of rough weather. We hope it’s a small tiff and the couple settle their issues with each other.

Divya and Rajiv were indeed ‘ek jaan hain hum’. They both fell passionately in love during the making of the film, which was the debut film of both Rajiv as well as Divya. We are not sure if Divya is currently in Mumbai or Dubai.

Divya also did ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’. Who can forget that unforgettable song featuring Mandakini and her- ‘Ek Radha Ek Meera’? She was also seen in ‘Watan Ke Rakhwale’ and ‘Ek Hi Maqsad’ and few more films that did not set the cash registers ringing. She was cast in Nana Patekar-starrer 20 Rupees, but the film never went on floors. Later, she also did a Bengali film with Victor Banerjee. A few other movies to her credit were- ‘Maa Kasam’ and ‘Akhri Muqabla’ which had Mithun Chakraborty as the male lead. Her pairing with Mithun was appreciated but still, she did not make much headway in Bollywood.
