Post Company’s Inness Furniture Collection with Sixpenny Is a Minimalist’s Dream

When Inness first opened back in 2021, it did so with an aesthetic little seen in Hudson Valley hotels: Its 28 cabins were black and barn-like, eschewing wooded romanticism for a cool utilitarianism. Open any of their doors, and a sparse interior greeted you, deliberate in its plainness. Furniture came in simple forms and in neutral colors, visually playing second fiddle to the brilliant autumnal leaves that drifted past your window or, come winter, the snow-covered landscape that sprawled beyond it. The setting felt bared-back, modern, even brutalist, yet somehow still comfortable amid all the austerity. “That’s the sort of tension we’re interested in—how can we make quiet, well-designed spaces that feel humble?” interior designer Leigh Salem of Post Company told Vogue at the time. They succeeded: Condé Nast Traveler named Inness to their Hot List in 2022, and it remains a popular getaway for New York’s in-the-know crowd.

Now, you can bring a piece of Inness’s award-winning good taste home with you: Post Company has teamed up with e-commerce site Sixpenny to produce a capsule collection of furniture originally created for the hotel. “As a studio, we were working on Inness for many years, focused on every detail of architecture, construction, and furniture. The project represented a bridging of historic Hudson Valley vernacular with a more contemporary expression, situated in an incredibly scenic environment,” Salem says. “We were interested in designing and working with incredible partners, such as Sixpenny, to develop custom pieces that could span design references and contribute to this narrative.” Sixpenny, on their part, readily agreed. “We’re deeply inspired by nature’s abundance, and Post Company’s work at Inness shares that same appreciation,” Robert Natale, Sixpenny’s chief of design, tells Vogue. “The property itself strikes such a beautiful balance—the clean lines of the cabins and their understated cozy interiors are juxtaposed perfectly by the rolling hills and surrounding landscape.”
