Police are investigating after two women went to a Utah college football game topless this weekend, wearing body paint over their torsos in the shape of a tank top with red ‘U’ on it.

Reports on KSL radio highlight how in Utah, there is a lewdness act that could make the incident a Class B Misdemeanor. Under Utah laws, Class B misdemeanors are punishable with fines of $1,000 or up to six months in jail.

But there is also frustration that security at the University match didn’t stop them from entering in the first place for Sunday’s game.

YouTuber Melea Johnson – a Utah alumni – was at the game with her husband and two children and in a lengthy Instagram post said that she was sat close to the two women.

‘There were 2 TOPLESS GIRLS yesterday at the Utah Football game!’ Johnson wrote. ‘This was the first time bringing my 2 kids and I was so excited to finally have them experience a live football game at my alma-matter.

‘No one working the stadium stopped them at the gate, security guards just stared and let them walk by…no one did anything!

‘Is this literally what our world is coming to?! We can’t even go to a family-friendly college football game without our kids & family being exposed to nudity??

‘And the stadium and security for the event won’t step in or escort them out because they’re worried they’ll get sued because of discriminatory laws?? That’s what they told me!

‘Are you kidding me?! This is NOT ok @utahfootball!! Instead of this post being about how excited I was to take my kids to their very first game… I now feel like I have to post about this issue to try to create some noise and get the stadium to change their rules!

‘Would you be ok with this at your team’s stadium?? Especially with your kids there?’

Utah president Taylor Randall and Athletics Director Mark Harlan wrote a letter to ticket holders, which Utah also put on its website.

It read: ‘We want to be very clear that profanity, public intoxication, rude and disrespectful behavior, racial and derogatory comments or verbal attacks directed at individuals or groups will not be tolerated.

‘Anyone who engages in unsafe or inappropriate conduct will be removed from the premises, may lose all privileges and access for future university events and could be reported to law enforcement.

‘We encourage all of you to help us identify and call-out inappropriate behavior so that our event staff can ensure a safe and great experience for our student-athletes, coaches, staff and spectators. If you see something, say something!’
