Physics Wallah to infuse ₹100 cr in its UPSC vertical

To boost its UPSC arm, ed-tech startup Physics Wallah (PW) is planning to invest 100 crore. The education startup will also focus on boosting its workforce to create UPSC-related content, PW leaders announced at the opening ceremony of its first offline UPSC coaching center, PWOnlyIAS, in Delhi.

In addition to this the company will also strengthen its offline coaching centers facility and will open it in Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities, said media reports.

PW is mainly dedicated to using its online platform, UPSC Wallah, for its courses dedicated to UPSC aspirants. There are plans to open 10 more offline centers in cities like Jaipur, Allahabad, Patna, Lucknow, Indore and Pune in next three years. With this, the startup plans to cover around 3 lakh aspirants by 2026.

To expand its services to youngsters preparing for the state public service commission, PWOnlyIAS is also mulling over launching courses for state PSC in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

The company decided to expand its services with the help of offline centres after the success of UPSC Wallah. The expansion will be done by infusing around 100 crore in strengthening its offerings, said PW CEO Alakh Panday on Tuesday.

The company was founded in 2020 by Alakh Pandey and Prateek Maheshwari. Currently, the startup operates in online as well as offline mode. It also offers test preparation courses for engineering, medical, and UPSC exams.

Earlier this month, the company announced to invest of around 82 crore across multiple tranches to boost its offline coaching vertical Vidyapeeth School.

Earlier, the company was completely focused on JEE and NEET. Now, the company is trying to expand its dimension to incorporate verticals like UPSC and state PSC.

As of now, PW has formed educational content in nine languages including Hindi, English, Bengali, Marathi, and Telugu, claims the company. It has more than 23 million subscribers.
