Pep Guardiola hesitates after he’s quizzed on whether he’ll QUIT Man City if they win treble

Could Pep Guardiola WALK OUT on Man City if they win the Treble? Boss hesitates and says ‘asks me after’ as he’s quizzed on whether he’ll QUIT if they win all three trophies this season

  • The Man City boss remained coy when discussing his future at the club
  • Guardiola’s side have to potential to record a historic treble winning season
  • There have been suggestions he could walk away from the club if they do so

Pep Guardiola has sparked suggestions that he could leave Manchester City if they win the treble this season, after being quizzed on the matter in an interview.

Guardiola’s side could record a historic campaign if they manage to triumph in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup this season.

They currently sit at the summit of the top-flight and are in the finals of the other two competitions, leaving them with a strong chance of winning all three tournaments.

If they did so, his City team would become the second English side – in the men’s game – to complete the treble, after Manchester United’s success in 1998-1999.

It would leave the Spaniard in a position where there is little left to achieve at the club and, when that was suggested to him, he told reporters to ask him ‘after’ they complete the treble.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Guardiola said: ‘First, we have to win it. [Then] you can ask me after and I will tell you how I feel and how I think.’

The City boss was then asked whether the matter had crossed his mind in any regard. He responded: ‘Of course, we are three games away and we need each competition to do it. [But] You are going to tell me that our city rivals, Man United, will be an easy game?’

City face rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final on June 3rd and Serie A side Inter Milan in the Champions League final on June 10th.

‘What will happen against an Italian team, who don’t feel favourites?’ he continued. ‘I’m thinking about that. And after, of course, if we achieve then I will tell you.’

Guardiola’s side could have the Premier League title wrapped up on Sunday afternoon, if they manage to beat Chelsea. The title could be secured a day earlier if Arsenal lose in their trip to Nottingham Forest.

It would be City’s fifth Premier League title within the last six seasons, marking their dominance over half a decade of top-flight football.

However, Guardiola has failed to win the Champions League during his time at Man City and some have suggested he would leave the club after achieving that.

They’re considered strong favourites for their clash with Inter Milan next month, after dominant performances against Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the previous rounds.

They stormed past Spanish side Madrid on Tuesday night and secured a 4-0 win in the second-leg of their Champions League semi-final.

A brace from Bernardo Silva plus goals from Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez wrapped up the dominant win over the reigning European champions on the night.
