OPPO 5G CPE: Oppo unveils new 5G CPE devices: What they offer and other key features – Times of India

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Oppo introduced new 5G CPE devices. These devices are convenient 5G hubs that are meant to give faster and more stable connectivity. Here we explain what these devices do and what they could mean for the users:

What are 5G CPE devices?

As we said, these devices are like mini hubs that convert 5G signals into Wi-Fi or LAN network connections. What this does is that it allows users to connect multiple devices in a home or office set up to 5G service, wherever it is available. Even if there are areas where broadband connectivity isn’t available then devices can connect to fast 5G internet by simply connecting to a 5G CPE device with a 5G SIM card installed.

How do the devices work?

Oppo has collaborated with Qualcomm on the 5G CPE devices. The devices features a Qualcomm Snapdragon T X62 5G Modem-RF system. Oppo claims that by further optimising it, the device can achieve over 20% increases in data transfer speeds versus the platform baseline. There’s an antenna — for which Oppo has added O-Reserve 2.0 smart antenna technology — which monitors signals received by 8 antennas in real-time and selects 4 of these antennas based on the gain strength and signal quality to form a downlink route.

What do the 5G CPE devices look like?

Oppo has opted for a minimal design aesthetic and the device looks like a slightly bigger version of an earlier generation of Amazon Echo speakers. It has a white cylindrical body and a textured surface which makes it more dust-proof and stain-resistant. The new Oppo T2 5G CPE is made partly from PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled Plastics) derived from consumer products, which is claimed to reduce carbon emissions.
When and where will the 5G CPE devices be available?
Oppo has partnered with many of the world’s leading operators, helping to expand uptake of 5G worldwide and allowing a wider base of users to benefit from improved 5G services. Oppo CPE T2 will be available in the second half of this year. Oppo has reached agreements with operators across the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, and Europe to empower even more people with the connective power of 5G CPE.
