Nine’s Sunday Footy Show got a bit chaotic this week when a fire alarm went off during a regular segment and the fire brigade arrived and unbelievably joined in on the action.

It was during Brad Fittler’s famous segment Freddy’s Pass Off, where guests are awarded points for how accurately they can pass the football at a target, that the moments of mayhem ensued.

The game started with a smokey studio and the hosts doing their best to ignore the fire alarms going off in the background.

New Sharks star Emma Tonegato attempted the pass-off challenge, and the Dally M Medal winner didn’t disappoint with a respectable 127 points.

Tigers captain Apisai Koroisau was up next and also managed to focus on the task at hand with a blaring alarm in the background, scoring 132 points.

Just seconds after Koroisau had finished, a member of the fire brigade arrived in the studio in full personal protective clothing and breathing apparatus.

‘We’ve actually got some visitors into the studio,’ announced host Danika Mason

‘Just in time for the pass off – do you want to have a go?’

Bizarrely, the firefighter decided to join in and started passing balls at the target.

After several well-placed attempts the firefighter eventually picked the helmet back up and continued what is one of the most important jobs in the country

‘Great job’, said Fittler of the firefighter’s obvious skills.

‘We’re going to fix these sirens and we’ll be straight back after this,’ said Mason as the segment finished and cut to a break.
