Musk: Elon Musk says his dog is the new CEO of Twitter – Times of India

On December 18, 2022, Elon Musk put up a poll asking, “Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.” The results of the poll went against Musk and three days later after he put up the poll, he tweeted, “I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams.”
Till now, no one “foolish enough” was found. But it does seem like Twitter has a new CEO and he goes by the name Floki. In a tongue-in-cheek comment made in a Twitter Spaces conversation with BBC, Musk said that he had indeed stepped down as CEO of Twitter. “I did stand down,” he said. “I keep telling you I’m not the CEO of Twitter, my dog is the CEO of Twitter.”
In the conversation he later reiterated, “I said I would appoint a new CEO and I did and it’s my dog.”
Clearly, Musk was joking and continues to be the man-in-charge of Twitter. He has been disdainful in the past about designations at Twitter. Even when he took over Twitter, he referred to himself as “chief twit”.

New CEO by end of 2023

In February 2023, Musk addressed the World Government Summit in Dubai and said that he wanted to stabilise Twitter first. “I think I need to stabilize the organization and just make sure it’s in a financially healthy place and that the product roadmap is clearly laid out,” he said.
He further noted that by the end of 2023, Twitter would be in a stable position to be run by someone else. “I’m guessing probably towards the end of this year should be good timing to find someone else to run the company because I think it should be in a stable position around the end of this year.”
